Pedestrian deaths account for nearly half of all traffic fatalities in San Francisco compared to just 13 % nationally. San Francisco chief of Police Fred Lau said, "I think we're all concerned about the number of traffic accidents that result in injury or death; it really is a community problem for us."
Mr. Laub is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley's Boalt Hall School of Law. His career helping plaintiffs solidified shortly after completing law school, while awaiting his bar exam results. At this time, Mr. Laub worked as an insurance claims adjuster where he saw and felt injustices occurring by insurance companies.
He decided to represent the plaintiffs to equal out the playing field and provide the plaintiffs with increased bargaining power. As Laub points out, "...there's an inherent inequality in the bargaining strengths of corporations and individuals."
