OLYMPIAN OF AN ATTORNEY
Arnold Laub

In the very heart of San Francisco, at 807 Montgomery Street, in a beautiful old-fashioned building, you will find one of the most reputable private law firms in the country. Above the entrance reads "Law Offices of Arnold Laub".

So what makes this renowned attorney and successful businessman so famous? Is it his ability to assemble a selected circle of like-minded colleagues and friends of high professional and ethical standards, filled with compassion to their clients' pains and anxieties, and thus passionately devoted to defending their rights and interests?

Arnold Laub is a mega-star in the legal universe extending beyond the boundaries of California to the rest of the country. He labored to his Olympus for several decades. It is now more than 40 years as he steers the firm towards thousands of legal victories amounting to hundreds of million of dollars in awards to his clients. Arnold meticulously applies knowledge acquired at the Boalt Hall School of Law of the University of California at Berkley. Only few succeed on the long thorny road from a student bench to an attorney of prominence. "Ultimate wisdom is to distinguish between evil and good" by the famous ancient philosopher Socrates, describes best of his many talents.

Even fewer are genuinely endowed to quickly and capably resolve the most intricate legal circumstances in order to prescribe the ultimate "cure". Indeed, it is his gift to "separate the sheep from the goats" that let Arnold Laub fulfill his professional duty and moral principles. His firm efficiently solves personal injury and accident litigations, wrongful terminations and discriminations of all kinds, breach of contractual obligations, and many other legal disputes. It is simply impractical to list here all the types of legal cases won by Arnold.

Laub's career in personal injury litigation began almost by chance when he worked as insurance claims adjuster while awaiting the results of his bar exam. Laub saw cases where he felt insurance companies were committing injustices. He decided to represent the plaintiffs, so he could help them obtain most adequate settlements.

His clients are confident-Arnold Laub successfully solves numerous legal disputes that many consider impossible, complicated or too small to handle.

There is no lack of relentless competition in personal injury litigation, but as Laub says, "I've been in the business for 40 years. Most people haven't been practicing that long. We're well known to the public, and we have a depth and breadth of experience."

It is worthwhile to stress Arnold Laub's determination or firmness of purpose. It is not just a deep sense of moral and professional duties to himself and his associates, but also to those responsible for the suffering. This attorney's opinion is well respected and valued. Without regard to the time and opposing parties involved, at this firm every case receives utmost attention until its successful resolution.

Laub works on a contingency basis, where clients pay no fees unless they receive an award. In other words, the firm earns its income only if the clients' interests are successfully upheld.
Together with a team of lawyers from another firm, Laub brought the first national class action lawsuit against the makers of the weight-loss drugs Fen-Phen and Redux, which were linked to heart disorders and death in some patients. In 1996, the year preceding the suit, doctors wrote approximately 20 million prescriptions for the drugs, which had been approved by Food and Drug Administration for use individually, but Fen-Phen and Redux had not been tested or approved for use in combination. The suit charged the makers with, among other things, negligence and failure to warn, and was settled earlier this year for $3.7 billion dollars. The drugs have since been pulled from the market. Laub also represented victims in a toxic chemical lawsuit in Richmond, California. In that case, 50,000 claimants were awarded a total settlement of $185 million for exposure-related injuries as a result of a plant explosion.

In addition to major accident litigations, his firm has also handled sexual harassment and wrongful termination cases.

Surely, his experience and knowledge along with the firm's successes in many high-profile cases did not remain unnoticed. In the resume of this well known attorney appears plenty of achievements, titles, assignments, which testify him as a professional, public servant and administrator with a number of significant legal appointments. Some of them are:

  • Board of Governors, California Trial Lawyers Association
  • President, The Law Offices of Arnold Laub, APC
  • Appointed Special Assistant (for California) to the Director, Office of Business Services, for the U.S. Dept. of Commerce, Wash., and D.C.
  • Served on a Class Action Executive Committee in a toxic chemical Lawsuit wherein 50,000 claimants in Richmond, California were awarded $185,000,000 for exposure related injuries Brought Fen-Phen Class Action lawsuit nationally, which settled for 3.7 Billion dollars in 1998
  • Awarded $2,250,000 for sexual harassment lawsuit
  • Awarded $5,200,000 for a wrongful termination lawsuit
  • Awarded $4,700,000 for a personal injury lawsuit

As a result of his professional contributions over the last 40years, his alma mater, Boalt Hall School of Law, dedicated the Arnold Laub Lobby in his name.

Perhaps, one of the most rewarding aspects of his work is the knowledge that he's making the difference, especially for individuals who may be permanently impaired as the result of another's negligence. "There's a special satisfaction when you help so many people," says Laub. "They can't do it on their own. Some of them would have no remedy or solution otherwise."

California is renowned for its diversity of people with various cultural and ethnical backgrounds from many countries of the world. Certainly, the firm could not leave this people without its foremost attention because, as experience shows, these particular groups of people are most often in need of urgent legal help. That's why the firm has many specialists fluent in their clients' native languages.

"We're well aware of a nearly quarter million strong Russian community residing in Northern California, mainly in San Francisco, San Jose and Sacramento metropolitan areas. But wherever they are, regardless of their place of residence, work or business we are ready to provide immediate legal defense of your rights at any time," says Laub. "Our Russian-speaking specialist Maria Willwerth, a native of St. Petersburg, ensures most effective liaison with the Russian community, and is the first point of contact especially for those with limited English language abilities."

This is why telephones at this firm are always in an emergency mode, on high alert.

As an additional benefit to individual and corporate citizens of California, and to improve public's awareness of its rights and latest developments, the firm regularly conducts free legal consultations where anyone can obtain legal advise from attorneys specializing in personal injuries and property damages, class action suits, medical malpractice cases, car accidents, wrongful deaths, and many other applications of the law. The Law Offices of Arnold Laub always protects your rights and interests!
